Wycliffe is a UK day and boarding school with a genuine global outlook and an aim to educate all our pupils to have a global perspective. In the Senior School, pupils from overseas can join us in Year 9, Year 10, Year 12 or on our one year GCSE Development Programme (for 15-17 year olds) , which is a bespoke study option ideal for international pupils to want to improve their English before entering Year 12. The Admissions process  is very simple and can be done online and in your own school or with your educational agent.

English Language Support

The one year GCSE Development Programme has in-built English Language Support as part of the weekly timetable alongside the study of six GCSE subjects and additional non-examined subjects . This course is one cost for all elements. If a pupil is in Year 9 or Year 10 and needs additional English Language Support, these EAL lessons are timetabled according to what the teachers (in agreement with parents) believe is appropriate. There is an additional charge for these lessons.

Pre-Sessional Week for New International Pupils

New international pupils in Years 9 to Year 13 (where English is not their first language) attend a Pre-Sessional week, during the last week of August and just before the start of the new academic year. This week is an important time for new pupils – they have a chance to settle into the UK and into Wycliffe, make some friends, get to know their environment, and explore the surrounding area – all before the rest of the School start for the term.

Pupils usually arrive on Day 1 with their parents. On this day they settle into their room, register with the Medical Centre, Finance Team and sort out any uniform problems. They have supper with their parents or guardians and the Head of College gives a short talk before their parents leave.

On Day 2 to 4, pupils go on outings (shopping at Cribbs Causeway, Bowling, and other team building activities), and they are retested for their ability in English and Maths.
