Wycliffe College is investing further in its commitment to Sustainability across the campus. The first installation of solar panels will be installed on three buildings at the Senior School campus, with ambitious plans to install more in the future.

Once set up, the College expects to generate approximately 75,000 kWh of electricity per annum, reducing CO2 output by roughly 17,000 kg CO2 per annum.

Tom Wood, Director of Finance and Operations, said, “We are delighted that the Trustees have approved the plan and are further committed to our sustainability plans. We have a lot of rooves at the Prep and the Senior School, so our capacity to produce our energy is significant”.

The installation of solar panels joins an array of initiatives already in place. These include college-owned electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging points, campus-wide LED lighting, cycle to work scheme, waste food recycling, cooking oil, and locally sourced fresh food.

Tom commented further, “Sustainability is high on our priorities and is of great importance to pupils and staff. We will continue to bring in new initiatives, but producing our energy is one of the key actions that will make a huge difference”.

There will be around 200 panels on the Finance, Art and Design and Technology buildings. Work will start over the February half-term 2023.
