Tuesday 27th June saw Senior School pupils come together once again to enjoy our annual Sports Day. The atmosphere was fantastic, with both participants and spectators getting fully into the spirit of the day and proudly showing off their House flags and colours.

Sports Day is a day of two halves at Wycliffe, with Legacy Sports Day taking place in the morning, followed by traditional athletics events in the afternoon.

Legacy Sports Day encourages pupils to try something new and compete in sports that they might not usually play in school. This year’s events included: Fencing, Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Rowing, Tennis, Football, Touch Rugby and Rounders.

The Victor and Victrix Ludorum prizes are awarded to the best individual male and female athletes from both the Juniors and Seniors. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Melody B (Lampeter) – Junior Girls; Xander G (Robinson) and Oliver F (Collingwood) – Junior Boys (joint); Ana D (Loosley) and Lottie W (Lampeter) – Senior Girls (joint); and Freddie S (Ward’s) – Senior Boys.

In the ever-competitive House competition, Lampeter was victorious in both the Junior and Senior Girls’ categories, with Haywardsfield and Robinson sharing first place for the Junior Boys, and Ward’s winning the Senior Boys.

It was a wonderful day, perfectly displaying the indomitable spirit and excellent team work that makes Wycliffe such a special place. Find out more about the sport on offer at Wycliffe here.
