A striking Victorian red-brick house at the top of the College drive, Haywardsfield welcomes you. Proud of our history; built in 1884, Haywardsfield is a family run house at the heart of the College. Our House ethos is rooted in community but always mindful of the individual. The Haywardsfield lion, Bramley, represents our Pride, your family at school and for many years to come.

The strength of the Pride is in the relationships we build. Everyone plays their part in our journey; the Pride holds us in a nurturing and respectful family that supports curiosity and courage to be ambitious, innovative and creative.’

Meet the House Parent – Mr James Austin

As a dedicated father of four, an experienced Housemaster and PE teacher; I understand the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where young people can thrive – both emotionally and academically.

Pupils wellbeing and happiness are my top priorities. I am always here to talk, to guide, and to support – whether it’s navigating challenges, celebrating success, or just having a relaxed chat after a long day. As a parent, I know how much it matters to feel genuinely cared for, and that’s the kind of atmosphere we work hard to foster in Haywardsfield.

A pupil’s time at school should be rich and rewarding. That means engaging fully in lessons, embracing sport, getting fully involved in music and drama, and joining clubs that spark your interest. It’s also about building friendships that will last a lifetime, exploring leadership opportunities, giving back through charity and service and growing in confidence along the way – because its these moments that shape who you are.

This House brings together people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another, broaden your horizons, and form bonds that cross borders and beliefs. I believe that a great house isn’t just where you stay – it’s where you feel at home. That’s what we strive to create here: a home from home, where every student feels valued and supported, and inspired to make the most of every day.
