In the new Ward’s-Ivy Grove building, Ivy Grove has state-of-the-art facilities for approximately 40 girls. The Common Room boasts stunning views and the girls have been very involved in ensuring their new House feels like home.

Our House Motto

Inspiring greatness. Valuing kindness. Yielding success.

Meet the House Parent – Miss Jenny Price

I love living and working in Boarding, mainly because I think it is what I have always done! I was raised in a Boarding school (my parents worked there) and went through the Boarding system myself, along with my three siblings.

When I went off to study Theology at the University of Birmingham, I knew deep down that it wouldn’t be long until I was back in a Boarding House. I enjoyed completing a year as a Graduate Assistant once leaving University and was then employed as an Assistant Housemistress for five years before coming here to Wycliffe.

I love music and have spent the summer holidays at concerts, festivals and shows. I’m also a keen swimmer – although I haven’t been in the pool as much as I would like recently.

If the girls in Ivy can’t find me then they will know where I’ll be – walking my dog, Winnie. She’s the real boss around the House and the girls know she is far harder to win over than me – if you get Winnie’s approval then you’ve really made it!

How long have you been at Wycliffe?
I have been working at Wycliffe since September 2022 so I am looking forward to this being my second year in Ivy Grove. It is always good to have done a whole cycle and experienced everything once and the second year in a post is always the best – you’re still enjoying the novelty, but you can also see the bigger picture.

What do you teach?
I teach Religious Studies and Life Skills. Both subjects are so interesting and each time I cover a topic with a class, I uncover something new about the subject. Even though I’m teaching the same syllabus every year, I find that I never teach the same lesson twice. I have also taught History in the past and I find the subject similarly fascinating – historical fiction and period dramas are my guilty pleasures.

What are you looking to implement in-House this year?
I am hoping to make the House family system even stronger. Although Ivy is a small House with a family atmosphere, splitting up into even smaller groups within the House adds to that sense of belonging.

I am excited and proud to have a really strong Prefect team leading the House this year and cannot wait to see plenty of their ideas put into action as well.

I also continue to be keen for the Ivy girls to learn about inspirational figures, past and present, and use the family system to encourage this as they have to work together to research and present on different people in Friday House Meetings.
