Broad Curriculum Offering with Individualised Learning

At over 650 pupils, Wycliffe is small enough to care yet big enough to deliver a broad curriculum and offer an extensive range of facilities.

Pupils are given the opportunity to try new subjects and develop existing talents and interests. Pupils can choose from 20 GCSE subject options during Years 9–11, including Business and Japanese, and 27 Sixth Form course options, from A Levels in Further Maths and Film Studies to BTECs in Business and Digital Production.

Boarding from 7 to 13 Years Old

The thriving Boarding community at Wycliffe starts in the Prep School from Year 3 to Year 8, where 52 Prep Boarders enjoy a vibrant home-from-home environment. Our Boarders come from all corners of the world, which gives us a wonderful mix of global cultures and traditions to embrace.

Senior School Boarding from 13 to 19

Our seven Senior School Houses host both Day and Boarding pupils from Year 9 to Year 13. Each House feels like a family, and where a sense of belonging is fostered through Inter-House Competitions. Housemasters and Housemistresses provide a constant level of support throughout their time here.

Sixth Form Boarders

Transitioning from Year 11 to Year 12, Boarders have the option to move from their existing Boarding House to our Sixth Form Boarding House – Loosley Halls. With a university study-style layout, Sixth Formers have access to communal areas, Common Rooms and kitchen areas all allocated just for them. The environment promotes independence within an atmosphere of trust, support and discipline. Whilst Loosley is an attractive option, we often find that Boarders who have been with us since Year 9 prefer to stay in their existing Boarding House as they have made close friendships with pupils in different year groups.

Boarders’ Free Time

Both Prep and Senior Boarders make good use of the excellent sporting facilities on our 52-acre campus in their free time. After set homework times in the evening and weekends, Boarders are free to play games on the Astro-Turf, play Tennis, go swimming and socialise.

Our Housemasters and Housemistresses organise a full programme of trips and activities at the weekend. Boarders can suggest outings they’d like to go on, including bowling, football, pizza and movie nights. Siblings of different ages across the School are encouraged to visit each other’s Houses and catch up during their free time.

Extra-Curricular Activities at Wycliffe

Our extra-curricular programme is seen as a co-existing extension of lessons that enrich children’s lives. We believe that a school is about the development of the whole child both in and outside the classroom. All pupils are encouraged to get involved in our extra-curricular activities. With over 60 activities on offer from Beekeeping, Young Enterprise, Performing Arts and Debating Club, there is something for everyone.

Our Life Skills Programme teaches skills for life through involvement in leadership, motivating others, teamwork and problem-solving. It outlines how the world markets work, gives pupils the chance to develop presenting skills and the opportunity to manage a trip or expedition.

We believe that achievement or success in extra-curricular activities leads to greater self-esteem and self-confidence – helping children achieve in other areas of their life.
