Individualised Learning

You know your child best, and we know that they are each very individual. We ensure we keep an ongoing and open conversation with you about how your son or daughter is progressing, and we discuss any concerns or achievements frequently. Teaching and supporting your child as an individual, with genuine personalised learning, is the principle to all we do, and we know this works the best for our pupils.

Reception – Building Strong Early Years Foundation

In Reception, learning caters to all abilities by offering a balanced mix of hands-on, play-based activities and more structured tasks, allowing each child to explore, engage and progress at their own pace. Teaching and activities in our Early Year’s classrooms follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (2021) which covers:

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development with four specific areas of learning:
    – Literacy
    – Mathematics
    – Understanding the World
    – Expressive Arts and Design, much of this is achieved with structured learning through play.

Years 1 and 2 Inspired through Wide and Varied Curriculum

In Pre-Prep, a thematic approach to learning allows children to explore broad, engaging topics that connect different subject areas in a meaningful way, fostering curiosity and deeper understanding. This flexible approach goes beyond the confines of the National Curriculum, encouraging creativity, critical thinking and personal growth through hands-on experiences and inquiry-based learning. It allows teachers to tailor lessons to the children’s interests in an engaging way, making learning both enjoyable and relevant.

Specialist Learning Support

Our School has a dedicated SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), whose role is to support children in the Pre-Prep department with additional learning needs. They work closely with teachers, parents and outside specialists to ensure that every child receives the right support and resources to thrive in their learning environment.

Our varied curriculum and extensive extra-curricular programme provide opportunities for each child’s individual talents, skills and interests to be nurtured, allowing them to explore new passions and develop their unique potential. There is something for everyone here in Wycliffe Pre-Prep!
