Wycliffe Prep has a purpose-built Performing Arts Centre called The Studio Theatre, which seats approximately 200 in the audience and has a permanent lighting rig and sound system. Music, Drama, Dance lessons and performances take place here for pupils in the Nursery Class through to Year 8, and the Music rooms are in the same building, behind the Stage.
One of the key strengths of the Prep School is the Drama facilities and teaching. Helping to build confidence, independence, team skills and self-esteem, Drama is taught through all year groups every week. Years 3 to 8 stage annual performances of major productions at different points in the year.
The bespoke Music rooms give a great learning space for individual musicians and class teaching. Music is taught every week for all year groups. Your son or daughter can join our Prep Symphony Orchestra, our Woodwind, Strings or Percussion Groups, and they can sing in the Middle Prep and Upper Prep Choirs. Concerts happen each term, and in addition musicians and choirs can perform at other Prep School events. Individual Music lessons are available on request, from Year 3s upwards, and these are timetabled once a week.
Dance is included in the curriculum for the Pre-Prep boys and girls with our specialist Dance Teacher. We also offer optional lessons in Ballet for your child from the Nursery Class through to Year 8. These are scheduled during lunchtimes and after school. There are regular recitals for parents to enjoy.
Pupils’ achievements in extra-curricular activities are excellent because of the variety of provision and the specialist teaching they receive in this area.
