Our ethos for sport is inclusivity and participation is encouraged for every child. Every pupil (whatever their ability) in our Middle Prep School and Upper Prep School (Years 3-8) has a chance to enjoy games, physical education activities, swimming and match fixtures. These are taught four times a week with fixtures on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. We believe that sport is healthy for mind, body and soul – developing not only stamina and technical skills but character, communication skills and confidence.

The teaching of sport changes each Term:
Each week, there is a swimming lesson for each year group, and physical education exercises, such as wall climbing and vaulting.
Other sports are available at Wycliffe and we encourage pupils to try new things or suggest ones of their own. We offer Fencing, Squash, Badminton, Cross-Country, Quidditch (!) amongst a long list of many other games and sports. There really is something for everyone.
When pupils are in Year 7 and above, they may be invited to join WASP (Wycliffe Athletic Sports Programme) which is for athletes who are performing at a high level and would benefit from extra coaching and nutritional, conditioning and toning advice. This Programme progresses into the Senior School.
As a member of one of the four Prep School Houses, your son or daughter takes part in termly sporting competitions, such as House Cross Country and Sports Day.
The teaching expertise in extra-curricular activities promotes pupils’ excellent achievement in these areas.
