Elite players train with National League clubs
Our more experienced players can access two terms of hockey with fixtures during the first term and external club training and fixtures during the second term alongside the tailored 1-2-1 training. If deemed the best exposure for the individual, they can play club hockey on a Saturday rather than a friendly school block fixture. The high-performing players can play National League at clubs such as Gloucester (20 minutes) or Clifton Robinson’s HC (35 minutes) giving them the opportunity to be challenged at the highest level. Our extended cohort of players could also participate in club hockey at a Senior or Junior level for local community club Stroud HC which train at the school on a Monday evening.
Fixtures at the Senior School take place on Thursdays and Saturdays, with two Friday night matches during the first term. Sessions are filmed using state-of-the-art VEO cameras which are shared with individuals and teams throughout the school. The Footage ensures our specialised coaches clip different aspects of the game and provide analysis to our pupils. Extra sessions help individuals and teams to work on highlighted areas in training going forward. Touring is regarded as a vital component of a pupil’s personal development.
