Henry Trinder’s appointment as Director of Rugby and Head of Strength and Conditioning shows Wycliffe’s commitment to develop its high-quality rugby programme. Henry will coach across both the Prep and Senior Schools. Many of the College players are involved in the Gloucester and Bristol DPP or Excel programmes, and the current Wycliffe 1st XV Captain has just been confirmed as an England Academy Player.
Pupils can be a flexi or full boarder, with day pupils having their own dedicated social and work spaces from 8.00am to 9.00pm. This makes it easy for pupils to stay on campus for sports activities and supervised homework each evening. With our fleet of minibuses on-site, Wycliffe provides transport to and from DPP training to ease the pressure on parents.
Recently retired from professional rugby in 2022, the experience that Mr Trinder will add to the rugby programme will be invaluable at all levels, especially in supporting pathway players as they develop and hone their skills. Having been through the Academy system himself before receiving his first professional contract at Gloucester, Henry’s understanding of the system will benefit Wycliffe rugby players.
Generous scholarships are available at 13+ and 16+ for players involved in Academy pathways. Wycliffe’s Sports Scholarship Programme supports athletes with strength and conditioning, nutrition, time management, injury screening and video analysis. An on-site sports therapist and various other aspects through the series of visiting professionals coming to the College to talk to pupils. An essential part of the Wycliffe programme is managing time and supporting pupils in their Academy pathways to ensure they have the best opportunity to flourish.
