We help every pupil thrive and succeed in these key secondary school years by having specialist teachers, keeping our class sizes small and providing a network of support, starting with a Form Tutor. We provide study support, individual action plans and track progress from when a pupil joins our school to the end point. Whether that pupil is moving on from our Prep School or is moving from another school, our aim is to ensure they are well-supported, happy and can achieve their full academic, spiritual, physical and creative potential.
Our enhanced curriculum is underpinned by an extensive extra-curricular programme, which aims to enrich and develop each pupil individually.

Year 9 is a time when pupils learn the skills and knowledge to be able to start public exam courses with confidence, as well as sampling lots of subjects to help decide which GCSEs to take. Small classes with sets ensure all pupils are given individualised attention and the right level of support to help them achieve their potential.
Year 9 is pivotal year in a young person’s education that can shape a person for the future. With the help of the school and parents, pupils begin to choose their GCSE options, of which there are 20 to choose from including Japanese and Computer Science.

In Year 10 the GCSE two-year programme begins building up to the GCSE examinations in the Summer Term of Year 11. Along with the range of extra-curricular activities we offer and the extensive GCSE programme, we develop skills, self-knowledge and resilience in our pupils so they can positively face all future challenges.
We understand the challenges that young people face in these crucial years. We want to ensure every pupil is supported and happy which is why we pride ourselves on offering excellent pastoral care – something that has been recognised as one of Wycliffe’s key strengths.
Relationships and Sex Education has a crucial role to play in preparing children for their lives now and in the future, as adults and future parents. In RSE we teach pupils about sexual and emotional health, and about family life and the exercise of personal responsibility towards other individuals and the broader community.
We understand that education is more than just about academic lessons and our approach ensures we nurture all the skills needed for every pupil to go on and have a prosperous future – whatever path they follow. This is why our pupils can enjoy an extra-curricular programme of broad choice alongside an extensive range of high-class facilities to make use of. Facilities include boathouse and rowing, climbing wall, fencing, squash courts, fitness suite.
We encourage all pupils to participate in one of the many activities on offer to support their development.
Dependent on your family’s needs, full and flexi boarding is available for all pupils in Year 9-11 where pupils will stay in one of our stunning boarding houses. If boarding isn’t needed, we warmly welcome day pupils who can benefit from gaining the experience of being a boarder without actually being a full boarder.
Day pupils will be allocated a house, so they can integrate with others and take part in games and competitions that are running. Each day pupil gets their own space in a school house where they have their own cupboard, desk and shelves and access to facilities which include showers, kitchen and social areas.
