Margie Coombs

Margie has a wealth of knowledge about the school through the years. Her father, John Shirley, worked at Wycliffe between 1950 – 1981 as Schoolmaster in the Senior School, as Second Master at the Junior School and was also a Housemaster at Penwood for a time. She was a pupil herself between 1972 – 1974, when girls were in the Sixth Form only, in Haywardsfield House. She later came back to Wycliffe and joined the staff as a Matron in 1990 for a period of eleven years whilst her sons came here and then re-joined in 2017 as a Matron in the Prep School up until her retirement in 2023. She probably knows nearly everyone!
